Work Flow on a Tenant Paying an Owner For Rent Outside of the System
This article will go through the steps on recording a payment that was made by the tenant directly to the owner for rent outside of the system.
If a tenant paid the owner directly - outside of Rentvine - and the funds never touched the trust account, this article shows how to reflect this in the system.
Getting Started
Step 1: Add a charge on the lease if it has not already been created. If there is already an unpaid charge on the lease that you are trying to record was paid outside the system, skip this step.
Step 2: Add a credit using the owner distribution chart of account. Use owner distribution to show the owner received the funds directly.
You will see the unpaid charge paid off using the credit you have just added when going into the transactions tab of the lease. Additionally, you're able to see the charge being washed off on the portfolio ledger as well.
- When you pay the charge off using the credit, this will still generate a management fee if the charge associated is tied to the management fee setting set on the property.
