Tips of the Week #25
Save time on maintenance tasks with Rentvine snippets
At Rentvine, we are always looking for ways to reduce repetitive work and improve efficiency for property managers.
In this week’s Rentvine Academy video, Sales Engineer Alex Cordova introduces Snippets, a shortcut feature that helps you quickly insert commonly used text throughout the system.
What’s new in maintenance workflows
1. What are snippets
Snippets are text shortcuts that allow you to automatically populate longer descriptions with just a few keystrokes. Instead of retyping the same work order notes or pasting text from another document, snippets insert the content for you instantly.
This is especially useful for maintenance requests that happen frequently, such as plumbing issues, vendor estimates, or standard repair instructions.
2. Using snippets in work orders
Snippets work best in the Maintenance section, including:
-
Work order details
-
Closing comments
For example, if a resident submits a work order that says “The sink is leaking,” you can delete that text, type your shortcut keyword, and Rentvine will automatically replace it with your full predefined description.
This keeps your documentation consistent and saves valuable time.
3. Managing snippets in settings
To create or edit snippets:
-
Go to Settings
-
Scroll down to the Other section
-
Select Snippets
From there, you can:
-
Edit existing snippets
-
Define the shortcut keyword
-
Add the full body text
-
Name the snippet
-
Choose the object where the snippet applies
While snippets are currently most effective in Maintenance, Rentvine plans to expand this functionality into additional areas of the system over time.
4. Creating new snippets
Creating a new snippet is quick and flexible. You can set up as many snippets as you need for different use cases, allowing your team to standardize language and reduce manual entry across recurring tasks.
Why it matters
Snippets help property managers work faster and more consistently by eliminating repetitive typing. They reduce errors, keep communication clear, and streamline how maintenance requests are documented.
For teams handling a high volume of work orders, snippets can add up to significant time savings.
