Tips of the Week #23
At Rentvine, we’re committed to helping property managers make their accounting workflows as efficient and transparent as possible.
In this week’s Rentvine Academy video, Sales Engineer Alex Cordoves provides a complete walkthrough of Rentvine’s Accounting section—ideal for new users getting started or experienced clients looking for a refresher.
What’s new in accounting management
1. A customizable accounting dashboard
Your Accounting Dashboard is the central hub for your financial operations. You can customize it to display critical metrics such as:
-
Past-due bills
-
Invoice statistics
-
Bill lists and deposits
Widgets can be resized, rearranged, or added to fit your workflow, making it easy to monitor the data that matters most to you.
2. Manage Money In and Money Out
The Money In and Money Out sections give you complete visibility into your cash flow:
Money In
-
View all received payments and receipts
-
Track electronic payments and manual deposits
-
Record tenant, owner, and other income entries
Money Out
-
Manage outgoing bills and vendor payments
-
Review and upload invoices via QR code or mobile scanning
-
Track recurring bills, payment batches, and vendor credits
Both sections feature the Actions button, giving you context-specific tools for posting payments, recording deposits, or processing late fees.
3. Simplified banking and reconciliation
The Banking Status and Diagnostics Tool provide real-time insight into your trust accounts, settlements, and reconciliations. You can:
-
View electronic settlements (EFTs)
-
Record and track bank transfers
-
Use diagnostics to identify discrepancies and confirm monthly tie-outs
These tools are designed to make month-end reconciliation easier, faster, and more accurate.
4. Transactions and reporting
The Transactions tab gives you a historical record of every transaction in your account. This is ideal for audits or forensic accounting.
From this section, you can:
-
Filter by transaction type or date
-
Record journal entries and transfers
-
Generate 1099s for vendors and owners
5. Manager Dashboard for fee tracking
The Manager Dashboard lets you track all management fees collected and paid. You can:
-
Create and process unbilled management fees
-
View a 30-day summary of billed and paid fees
-
Run detailed payment reports over any timeframe
This tool helps ensure your business stays on top of internal accounting and revenue tracking.
