Rentvine integrates directly with PetScreening.com, so applicant pet profiles, vaccine records, and animal claims live right inside your Rentvine applications — no separate portal to check, no chasing down documents.
What you get
Completed pet profiles synced directly into Rentvine
Incomplete submissions flagged automatically, in real time
Risk-based pet fees backed by verified FIDO scores
ESA and service animal claims verified by PetScreening
Flexible controls to enable per application template
Whether you're leasing to pets, service animals, or enforcing a no-pets policy, Pet Screening keeps the process consistent and puts the decision-making information in one place.
Activating Pet Screening
Activation happens in two steps — one on Rentvine's side, one on yours.
Step 1: Rentvine enables it on your account. Request PetScreening from the Rentvine screening team (email [email protected] or use the enablement form). The Rentvine team turns it on in your account's admin settings. This is a one-time step — until it's done, the toggle in Step 2 won't be available to enable.
Step 2: You enable it per application template. Once Rentvine has turned it on for your account, any PM can enable it on individual application templates:
Go to Settings.
Under Application Templates, find the application you want to update and open the builder.
Go to the Animal section.
Toggle on Use Pet Screening.
Choose whether Pet Screening is optional or required for that template.
Remove any existing references or links to Pet Screening elsewhere in the application (old copy, old links, etc.) so applicants aren't given conflicting instructions.
Select Save.
Repeat Step 2 for each application template where you want Pet Screening enabled.
Require Pet Screening for all residents. You can also configure a template so that every applicant — including those without pets — goes through Pet Screening. When this is on, applicants without animals see a no-charge disclosure and aren't billed anything; the requirement only applies to actual animal owners. This gives you a consistent screening standard across every applicant on that template.
How it works for applicants
Applicants without animals simply select No — they're never routed to Pet Screening at all.
Applicants with animals are prompted to copy an Application ID from Rentvine.
Using the link provided, they set up their Pet Screening profile and enter that Application ID to connect it back to their Rentvine application.
Applicants with multiple animals create a separate profile for each one, and can submit their Rentvine application before every profile is complete.
Real-time visibility for property managers
Because pet profiles sync back as they're completed, you don't have to wait on the full set before you start reviewing:
The Application Details page shows the expected number of animals and how many pet profiles are complete.
If an applicant has submitted their application before finishing every profile, you'll see an incomplete status until they finish — and so will they, as a reminder on their end.
Once complete, profiles show full detail, including any flagged history — for example, a noted bite incident will surface as a negative affirmation on that animal's profile.
This gives you what you need to make an informed leasing decision without leaving Rentvine.
FIDO Scores on the Decision View. Each animal's FIDO Score — PetScreening's risk rating — surfaces inline on the Decision View alongside that animal's details, and carries through lease creation onto the final signed lease. You can assess risk and weigh it against pet rent or deposit amounts without opening the full report.
Service animal and ESA verification. When an applicant submits ESA or service animal documentation through their Pet Screening profile, PetScreening reviews it and updates the animal's profile with the appropriate certification — or removes it if the documentation doesn't hold up. That verification carries into Rentvine automatically, so leasing agents get a reliable, third-party validation without reviewing the documents themselves.
Viewing Pet Screening information
Once synced, pet data is visible in a few places:
Application Details page — pet screening results alongside your other applicant screening data.
Tenant profile — pet details remain accessible after move-in.
Lease page — pet information tied to the lease. At lease creation, the applicant's Pet Screening profile is pulled in and attached to the lease record automatically, so you can review it anytime during the tenancy without going back to the original application.
If pet information is missing from work orders, vendor workflows, or other areas after a completed screening, contact Rentvine support — this may indicate a sync issue.
Pet Fees, Pet Rent & Deposits
Pet-related charges are configured separately from the Pet Screening integration itself:
Navigate to the lease for the applicable tenant.
Add a recurring charge for pet rent, or a one-time charge for a pet fee or deposit.
Make sure the charge type is labeled correctly so it displays clearly on the tenant ledger and lease documentation.
See the related articles on rent charges and tenant fees for guidance on setting up specific charge types.
Troubleshooting
Pet data not appearing on the application?
Confirm the applicant has fully completed their Pet Screening profile — partial submissions won't display.
Confirm the correct Application ID was entered when the applicant set up their Pet Screening profile.
Refresh the application page — data can take a few moments to sync.
If the issue persists, contact Rentvine support with the applicant's name and application ID.
Display issues in the Rentvine interface
Refresh the page or clear your browser cache.
If pet information appears greyed out or unclickable, confirm the Use Pet Screening toggle is enabled on that application template — and that Rentvine has enabled Pet Screening on your account (email [email protected] if you're not sure).
For persistent display issues, contact Rentvine support with screenshots of what you're seeing.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does Pet Screening cost? Pet Screening pricing is managed directly through PetScreening.com. Contact them or visit their website for current pricing. Rentvine doesn't charge an additional fee for the integration.
Can I compare Pet Screening to other providers? Rentvine integrates with PetScreening.com as its supported pet screening partner.
Can I require Pet Screening for only some properties? Yes. The optional/required setting and the "require for all residents" setting are both configured at the application template level, so you control which units and properties enforce it.
I already have my own PetScreening account — can I keep using it for new applicants? Not currently. You won't be able to view an applicant's Pet Screening profile from your existing PetScreening account — you'll only see their information within the Rentvine screening application, unless the applicant chooses to share their profile with your account directly. Rentvine is aware this is a gap and is working on a solution.
